This was the 2nd year a Service of Remembrance was held in Knaphill Village, to remember those that lost their lives in the two World Wars and recent conflicts. This was attended by members of the Armed Forces from Pirbright, Jonathan Lord MP, Councillor Melanie Whitehead and the Royal British legion. The service was lead by Rev Richard Sherlock, assisted by Rev Nick Grew, Rev David Faulkner and Rev Jeff Scott. School children from Knaphill Junior School also took part, reading Poetry and Prose they had written about the Blitz and the Second World War through the eyes of a child. These were excellent and can be seen on display in the Library from this week.
At 11 am staff from Barclay’s Bank and local shops came out to pay their respects during the two minutes silence. Afterwards we had the chance to talk to one another in the King’s House coffee shop.
