23rd March 2021 marked the first anniversary of lockdown. KBC joined with the country in marking this sombre anniversary, reflecting on a year that has seen the pain of loss for many, and turmoil and stress, or anguish and loneliness for others.
We pray for all those who have lost loved ones to this dreadful pandemic, or seen treatment for other ailments curtailed. We reach out in comfort to all who have spent the year in isolation, for loneliness is a bitter pill. We remember those who have lost their job, or their business to the economic turmoil lockdown caused.
We give thanks for all who have cared, nursed, delivered, cheered up, and zoomed in past year to make a real difference, and pray that the loving, neighbourhood spirit that lockdown has brought will continue long after.
We give thanks for those whose scientific knowledge was used to create and manufacture the vaccines, and for those giving their time to administer them.
We pray for governments worldwide to know the right steps to take to return to the best of life before a year ago, not the same – but building on all of the “best” that we have experienced this past year.
